Behind the name: Shape Dogs
Discover the meaning behind Shape Dogs and why I decided it on it for the dog training business name, as well as a little bit of insight into our logo.
The Name
When deciding to start a dog training venture, I always knew that I wanted to create something that could have a legacy and be bigger than just me. So, I knew from the start that I'd need a business name, and Shape Dogs was born.
I chose Shape Dogs for because I wanted a name that was relevant, succinct and meaningful.
Shaping behaviour is a way of dog training that breaks down learning into much smaller steps that build into a final behaviour. It requires quite sharp observation skills, but has great benefits such as creating more confidence in dogs, helping dogs to actually think and understand what they’re doing, make complicated tasks more easy to understand and solidify their learning to name a few.
These rational benefits are values which I want to uphold in my business; building confidence in dogs and owners, making it easier for them understand complex ideas, making it clear for them to understand what’s required, and shaping a stronger bond whilst doing it.
The Logo
The logo was born from playing with shapes around the letter S and a silhouette of my golden retriever, Hank. It was essential that the dog that started it all featured in a prominent part of our branding! Every aspect of our logo and visual identity from colour palette and fonts to website design and build was created by me, allowing me to really drill down into how I wanted the brand to look and feel to create a business that met my vision and mission.
